I bought my first SLR camera when I was 13 years old after saving
enough money over the summer working on the farm where I grew up.
It was a rugged mechanical beast, and it used film, which was the only
option to a consumer back then. I initially taught myself the
craft of photography by reading books, magazines and taking photographs
whenever I could.
Over 25 years later, I'm still taking photographs, but today I use digital cameras. Between now and then, I used several types of cameras, both film and digital, 35mm, medium format and large format. I learned to make prints in my high school darkroom as a photographer for the yearbook, but today I use a digital darkroom.
My photographic goal is to give the viewer a sense of the emotion I felt when I witnessed the scene, whether it was awe at the wonderful colors of the sky, or the majestic stature of a bird of prey.
I am fortunate to live in the Portland, Oregon metro area, which allows me to be near some of the most spectacular scenery of the Pacific Northwest. I also frequently travel to Newfoundland, Canada and other areas around the United States and Canada.
My wife is a veterinarian (www.yourathomevet.net) and along with our daughter, six cats and two dogs, we enjoy life together to the fullest. Thank you for taking the time to visit my web site and view my photography.
